A graduation ceremony was held at the Statehouse on Thursday.
INDIANAPOLIS – Two recruits from the 81st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy are heading to Versailles.
Graduation was held on Thursday evening in the Indiana State Capital Rotunda for 29 new State Police officers.
Each graduating trooper will be assigned to one of 14 State Police Posts across Indiana.
Among the 29 graduates, Gavin Ludwig (Chrisney, IN.) and Clayton Saltzmann (Boonville, IN) have been assigned to the Versailles Post.
Their graduation marks the culmination of 25 weeks of intense training which totaled nearly 1,100 hours. Subject areas of training included criminal and traffic law, de-escalation, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms, impaired driving detection, scenario-based training, and more.
The new troopers will spend the next three months working side by side with a series of experienced Field Training Officers.
Upon successful completion of field training, the new troopers will be assigned a state police patrol vehicle and will begin solo patrol in their assigned district.
