2020 Legislative Session Has Concluded

Gov. Holcomb and Sen. Chip Perfect gave statements regarding the closing of the session.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The 2020 Legislative Session has come to an end.

Governor Eric J. Holcomb states how proud he was that enormous amount of legislative support was shown, but addresses the fact that with current unexpected challenges on the rise, more work is yet to come.

“This legislative session, Senator Bray, Speaker emeritus Bosma, Speaker Huston and the rest of the General Assembly navigated a series of important issues that matter to Hoosiers. I’m grateful for all the legislative support my Next Level Agenda achieved. While short sessions go fast, we got significant work done while continuing our track record of fiscal stability, which positions our state to face any unexpected challenges – including the current coronavirus outbreak.”

Locally, State Sen. Chip Perfect (R-Lawrenceburg) is confident in the progress that was made to keep the state moving forward.

“While there is always more work to be done, Indiana is in a better position than it was when session began. After several months of deliberation, the Indiana General Assembly passed policies that will improve health care price transparency, curb 'surprise' medical billing and require hospitals to post the average price of common procedures they provide. In addition, my colleagues and I addressed health care coverage for Hoosier farmers, the employment of minors and the modernization of government agencies. As we enter the interim, I will continue to advocate for policies that effectively address our state's most pressing needs."
