Champions were crowned at the Rivertown and Ripley Co. Tournaments, the EIAC held their Swimming & Diving Championship and more.

FRIDAY, JANUARY 8

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Rivertown Classic 

South Dearborn 51, Rising Sun 37 (Consolation Game) - The Lady Knights picked up their first win of the season behind 12 points from Bernadette Wismann, and 11 points each from Kiersten Dixon and Zoe Ross. Jillian Bond added eight points in the win. Rising Sun's Maddi Wilson had a game-high 21 points. 

Lawrenceburg 54, Switzerland County 30 (Championship Game) - The Lady Tigers captured their fifth-straight Rivertown Classic title (record) with a dominate performance. Lawrenceburg shot 51 percent from the field and held Switzerland County's top three scorers of Maddie and Jessica Duvall and Kiersten Oeffinger to a combined 21 points. The Lady Tigers were led in scoring by tournament MVP Kirsten Cross with 19 points. Kierah Low added 13 points and Chloe Meyer chipped in with 10.

Ripley County Tournament

Batesville 63, Milan 24 (Consolation Game) - Makayla Granger-Young led all scorers with 33 points (12-14 FG). Sarah Ripperger added 11 points for the Lady Bulldogs. 

Jac-Cen-Del 55, South Ripley 43 (Championship Game) - The Lady Eagles were led in scoring by Paige Ledford (MVP) with 15 points. Kadee Kuhn added 14 points and Annabelle Williams had 11 for JCD. South Ripley was led by L.J. McQueen with a game-high 17 points. Rachel Meyer had 13.

East Central 74, Rushville 34 - Luke Collinsworth had 19 points. D.J. Stroud added 12 for the Trojans.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Rivertown Classic

Lawrenceburg 50, Switzerland County 41 (Consolation Game) - The Tigers dominated in the paint getting 17 points from Ashton Craig and 14 points from Jackson Bobo with 14 points. Dahya Patel had a strong second half with 11 points. Pacers junior Travis Wrightsman had a game-high 18 points. Ben Hicks added eight points for Switz. Co. 

South Dearborn 49, Rising Sun 32 - The Knights reclaimed glory at the Rivertown Classic, winning a record-tying eighth championship and their first since 2013. Tobie Teke (11 pts) set the tone early with a couple steals that resulted in easy baskets. The Knights were led in scoring by tournament MVP Eli Hoffman with 18 points. Reece Willoughby added eight points for the Knights. South Dearborn's defense was excellent holding Rising Sun to eight made field goals. Brady Works led Rising Sun with seven points. Chase Kuehn had 5.

Ross 53, East Central 42 - Luke Collinsworth had 20 points. Ryan Sehlhorst with 10 for EC. 

 

GIRLS BASKETBALL

East Central 57, Rushville 50 - The Lady Trojans improved to 4-0 in the EIAC and 12-2 overall behind 23 points and a career-high 13 rebounds from Hope Fox. Julia Tiemann added 10 points for EC, and Kyla Maxwell dished out a career-best seven assists. East Central is tied at the top of the EIAC standings with Lawrenceburg (4-0).
