Four Lady Shiners Highlight 2022 All-ORVC Softball Team

(Rising Sun, Ind.) – Seventeen softball stars have been recognized by the Ohio River Valley Conference. 

The ORVC released their 2022 Softball All-Conference Team on Thursday.

Conference champion Rising Sun (20-2 overall, 8-1 in the ORVC) placed four players on the all-conference team.

  • Cora Poling: .411 AVG, 3 HR, 25 RBI, 22 runs; 11-2, 2.73 ERA, 63 K in 82 IP
  • Nora Powell: .542 AVG, 3 HR, 27 RBI, 29 runs
  • Ella Eldridge: .385 AVG, HR, 21 RBI
  • Sidney Halloran: .389 AVG, 6 doubles, 17 RBI, 20 runs

South Ripley (8-2 in ORVC, 2nd place) and Switzerland County (7-3 in ORVC, 3rd place) each had three all-conference selections.

  • Alexa Heidt (SR): .500 AVG, HR, 5 triples, 8 doubles, 24 RBI, 29 runs
  • Mady Tompkins (SR): .554 AVG, 21 RBI, 9 runs; 12-3, 1.18 ERA, 154 K in 83 IP
  • Ellie Waldron (SR): .515 AVG, 5 HR, 20 RBI, 18 runs; 3-0, 2.14 ERA, 60 K in 39.1 IP
  • Jessie Duvall (SC): .392 AVG, HR, five doubles, 10 RBI, 28 runs
  • Maddie Duvall (SC): .474 AVG, 15 RBI, 33 runs
  • Lily Sparks (SC): .509 AVG, 16 RBI, 22 runs; 12-5, 0.84 ERA, 165 K in 108.1 IP

Other area players making the all-conference team include Chloe Hunter (Milan), Audrey Schmidt (Milan), Maria Meyer (JCD) and Olivia Strunk (JCD).  

The 2022 ORVC Mental Attitude Award went to South Ripley’s Mady Tompkins. Rising Sun head coach Ken DeDreu was selected as the 2022 ORVC Coach of the Year.
