Edinburgh Football Cancels Rest of Season; Leaves One Less Team in Sectional 47

Edinburgh finishes the season with a 1-5 record.

(Edinburgh, Ind.) - The Edinburgh Lancers' football season is over. 

An announcement was made Tuesday night to cancel the remainder of the season due to a limited number of players. 

"This decision was not made lightly. The safety of our student athletes continues to be our highest priority," reads a statement from the school's athletic department. 

Edinburgh ends the season with a 1-5 record. 

With their season over, Sectional 47 is down from eight teams to seven ahead of Sunday's sectional draw. That means one of the seven teams will receive a bye into the sectional semifinals. 

Sectional 47 includes North Decatur, South Decatur, Knightstown, West Washington, Greenwood Christian, Milan, and Eastern Greene.
