(Greendale, Ind.) - A new running team made its debut at the Greendale 5K on the Fourth of July.

Coach Wagner Running Elite is led by St. Lawrence Physical Education teacher and founding head cross country coach Bryan Wagner. Wagner, a runner himself, has completed the Boston, Chicago, and New York marathons in recent memory.

His team brought home plenty of hardware at the Greendale 5K.

Rylynn Head, 16, of Lawrenceburg, was the overall winner with a time of 17:40. Coach Wagner placed second with a time of 18:04. Coleman Hughes, 15, of Lawrenceburg, placed third (18:46).

Teagan Burk, 17, of Aurora, was fifth (18:59).

Coach Wagner Running Elite also had the top female performer. Lilly Gambrel, 17 of Lawrenceburg, finished 20th overall with a time of 20:45. Faith Harmeyer, 18, of Lawrenceburg, finished third among female competitors and 29th overall with a time of 21:33. Beckett Wagner, 12, finished with a time of 24:02.

"A lot of hardware came home today, but what impressed me most was the effort, teamwork, and excitement this group brought to the start line. This is just the beginning of our 5K season, and the future is bright," said Coach Wagner.
