(Rising Sun, Ind.) - A group of Rising Sun High School students are working hard to keep a stretch of the Ohio River clean.
Around 10 years ago, the Rising Suh High School Science Club adopted river mile 506-507 through the Living Lands and Waters Association. Since then, the club has been collecting garbage along the Ohio River.
This year, there are 35 dedicated members that will work throughout the school year to keep this stretch of river clean.
According to Rising Sun School, the Science Club has collected 289 bags of garbage, 49 tires, and countless appliances and other large items from the riverbank over the past 10 years.
