(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Sentencing has been handed down to a Brookville man for his role in the death of two area men.

Seth Donohue was sentenced on August 10 to 25 years in prison, followed by 15 years of supervised probation.

Donohue’s sentencing comes after he pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Commit Dealing in a Controlled Substance Resulting in Death, stemming from the deaths of Jacob Berting and Garrett Johnson in 2020.

Both died as result of a fentanyl overdose with Donohue being responsible for the sale of the drug.

“This is a tragic case involving the death of two young men who were dealing with the demons of drug use,” said Dearborn-Ohio County Prosecutor Lynn Deddens. “Through the hard work and cooperation of Franklin County Prosecutor Chris Huerkamp, law enforcement agencies from Dearborn and Franklin counties, and the Indiana State Police, we were able to secure this conviction. While this result will not bring back the lives of these two young men, it will perhaps save others from a similar fate and put drug pushers on notice that Fentanyl distribution will not be tolerated in our communities.”

Donohue’s co-defendant, Karina Gonzalez, is set for trial November 15.

She was originally charged in November 2020 with Conspiracy to Commit Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance Resulting in Death (Level 1 Felony), Dealing in a Schedule II Controlled Substance Resulting in Death (Level 1 Felony), and Dealing in a Narcotic Drug (Level 5 Felony).
