Brave Buddy Bags Delivered to Greendale Police

The goal is to get Brave Buddy Bags into all local police departments and EMS departments

(Greendale, Ind.) - Brave Buddy Bags have been delivered to the Greendale Police Department. 

A total of 22 bags were presented on Thursday (2 per officers and 2 for EMS)

Bags are packed with comfort and sensory items like fidget toys, a soft blanket, stress ball, pen and paper, encouragement card, and other calming items that are designed to help children in moments of crisis. 

Nicole McLane, a previous foster parent, came up with the idea based on her own journey. 

"I have seen kids in all levels of stressful circumstances. Our first foster son came to our home with a grocery bag of items. He had nothing to call his own. Unfortunately, this happens more than what most people realize," said McLane. "Not only do I want to see these bags used for children in crisis but even teens, & young adults that may find themselves in a crisis or mental distress."

Her goal is to get Brave Buddy Bags into all local police departments and EMS departments. 

“The Brave Buddy Bags" will be a fantastic addition for our officers and EMS personnel to have available to provide comfort during traumatic and difficult times. I commend Nicole for her dedication and compassion for those impacted by high anxiety and stress during extraordinary circumstances," said Greendale Police Chief Shane Slack. 

Brave Buddy Bags is all done with donations from the community, local businesses and business owners. Donations are still being accepted and can be sent through our Venmo @Bravebuddybags or mailed to 24 Decker Ave in Greendale Indiana.
